August, after reviewing The Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union of Australia (hereinafter referred to as CFMEU) information and communication technologies for sustainable development of its plan, the Australian government agreed to modify its paper products procurement policy. Under the new policy the government departments in the purchase of paper products need to comply with the relevant regulations.
CFMEU National Secretary General Michael O’Connor said the new policy will add the Australian Paper and Amcor recycled paper products to the government’s procurement guidelines.
CFMEU pointed out that before the policy change, the federal government required all government departments to buy office paper from overseas suppliers, in the long run, this will affect the employment rate in Australia. Policy change means that the government will purchase from the Australian Paper deinking and paper recycling paper products plant in Australia, while in New South Wales Bo Dani’s Amcor employees will therefore profit. Allegedly, under the new policy, which can be called “recycled (post consumer waste)” The paper will include from the office, printers, packaging equipment and paper products processing machine products.
